On The Oscars aka The Televised Adele Concert

http://25.media.tumblr.com/25addee3caae04ffedfbbf99e55503b7/tumblr_mirelwXvNA1rswfk2o3_250.gif

I feel like the entire night was nothing but a progression to, then a regression from, Adele.

She really is the Queen Of Everything Worth Being Queen Of.
Oh, and Jennifer tripped. That was exciting.

I like Charlize's new hair.

But that's it.

This show was a disaster.
Someone, anyone, should have called Tina + Amy right after Seth's opening number.
 .
I'm going to be traumatized by his "boob song" for LIFE.

sigh

I haven't even SEEN Argo.

I had a ranch in the 80's....

 #teenvogue sweater: c/o miss magiba|jeans: levis| boots c/o miss roberta

IT'S MAGIC.

10 points to the first person to recognize these boots.

(If you've only been around since January or such and still recognize, you get 15)

I'll give you a hint.

Got it?

I KNOW.

They're so pretty and now they're mine-mine-mine.

I'm big into cowboy boots, and these are the perfect median
between work boots and nice shoes. They're super comfortable, and I mean...flowers.

Love it.

After my post about my room, half of you were obsessing over my room, and the other half were obsession over this sweater. I completely understand, it is wonderful.
   and it's sparkly.

Whilst wearing this outfit out and about, I was told by one of my favorite librarians
(yes, I have favorite librarians, everyone ought to.)
that I was very much channeling an 80's ranch wife.

How could someone who gives out compliments like that
NOT be one of my favorite librarians?

In other news, tomorrow is my brothers birthday.
He is turning 11. All I really have to say about that is: no more chickens.
 I mean it.
and thank you for taking all these lovely photos of me.
Here is a lovely photo of you.

I really like birthday cake.

I also really like Katy Perry's birthday cake dress.

I wonder where I can get one of those made...

Velvet Circles

 #teenvogue leotard: vintage|skirt: I made it| shoes: doc martens

Let us just take a moment to think about the fact that all I wanted to do was photograph this skirt I made and my 10 year old brother turned into Patrick Demarchelier on me.

"No Justina, don't smile, look ANGRY. Fine, one heart."

That is how we ended up with these gorgeous photos.

We took them in the driveway of the house next to the lady who doesn't like our dog, two houses down from the Russel Brand impersonator, across the street from neighbor who used to like us but doesn't anymore.

Good luck figuring out where I live, stalkers.
\
These people bought the house, put in new concrete, painted everything white and beige, and come mow the lawn once a month, but that's about it.
This leaves the house with that perfect "frozen suburbia" vibe.

I made this skirt on a whim.
A whim to not pay a bajillion dollars for one from American Apparel.

I've gotten quite attached to it now, although the entire thing is a touch on the lopsided side.
velvet.

In other news, I'm going to be a bit slow on the outfit posting thing. I have
loads of outfits to show you guys, but our computer that had a ton of photos on it is kaput.
 It just...stopped.
Like me in front of Marc Jacobs.

so just fyi.

Can we talk about last nights season finale of Downton Abbey?

no, we can't.

I am not emotionally prepared to deal with that yet.

Now I've Seen It All

Tonight is the season finale of Downton Abbey.

*cry*

You wait ten freaking months for something,
then it just LEAVES you,
with no thought of your mental and emotional fragility after just six weeks

Just. like. that.

But when I saw this video, I knew I would make it.

I will survive.

I'm just not sure Carson would if someone showed him this video.

 This film.

My favorite fashion documentary is, and will forever be, "Valentino: The Last Emperor",
but
"Unzipped" is a very close (and I mean closer than lycra*shudder* to skin) second.

This movie shows everything the the fashion industry is/should be.

Theres a flamboyant, ridiculously talented designer (Isaac Mizrahi), Naomi + Kate at the peak of their general brilliance, neon coloured fur fur, sequins, and the entire thing is shot in gritty, hardcore artistic B&W, except for the parts where one feels color is needed.

Its. just. so. perfect.
I have never really liked anything about the ninties except that I was born in them.
(obviously the highlight of the decade)

"Unzipped" shows us the part worth remembering.
Beautiful, individualistic models, tutus, plaid skirts, and cool hair.

I fully recommend you all watch it.
and because we have this lovely thing called the internet, you can do that right this actual moment.

Gold star to Nusardel for finding that for us.

Makes for a nice break from Anna + The September issue, right?
(Forgive me Anna for I have sinned in suggesting we do other than worship you.)

Justina

One Does Not Question Adele

Someone needed to  give Chris Brown a dressing down.

I for one would not want to be confronted by an angry Adele.
The woman can set fire to rain, after all.
 Seriously.

Adele: "Hold on, I'm going to take off my eyelashes, and then it's gonna go down."

She was basically the only interesting thing that happened during the Grammy's.
I mean, sure Taylor pulled a viscious little stunt that an elementary school student would be embarrassed by, Fun. brought a bit of East Coast weather on stage with them, and Ed Sheeren + Elton John were the best and weirdest match up ever,
but forget all that, Adele was wearing color.

I happened to really like this dress.
So poo on the Huffington Post for calling it "curtain like".
That's what they said about Lucy Liu's dress at the Golden Globes too,
so they obviously are a bit confused, and description challenged..

anyway.

Someone give Kelly Clarkson an award for saying "sexy" as many times
as she did in one acceptance speech.

And Jay- Z for just being really cool, like, all the time.

Am I the only one whose skin crawls when they see Tyler the Creator?

I think it's hilarious that the Grammy people attempted to initiate a dress code, and everyone followed it except the core people I'm sure it was brought into being for.
*cough* KatyPerryRihannaJLo*cough*

Don't you just love award shows?

Justina

Leap Of Owl

|jumper:c/o prodigy red| jeans:c/o miamasvin|necklace:c/o stella&bow|
|sneakers: c/o burnetie| #teenvogue

I have a serious thing about owls.

Theres a whole long story behind it involving three year old Justina, my second middle name (Athena) and my mother refusing to allow America into my childhood.

Even with all that, I seriously shy from clothing with owls on it, because a. it either looks cheap or cutesy, or b. it looks harsh and more than slightly frightening.

BUT THIS JUMPER.

It's perfect.
Soft, versatile, lightweight.
The only thing it doesn't do is make me tea, but we're working on that.

I know I'm committing a serious fashion felony in wearing these jeans so often,
but I'm a rebel so whatever.

Another thing rebels do is wear whistles around their neck that they blow every so often,
just to remind people they're alive.
And because it's cute.
My dog loves it, he seems to have a whistle obsession.

My sneakers are so cool.
I kept twisting my leg around all day so I could look at them, I still can't accept their awesomeness.

It's fashion week!

lol like you didn't already know that.

I have this love/hate relationship regarding how I feel about NYFW.
On one hand, it is the fashion capital of the fashion capital.
On the other, it always feels like the designers don't pull out their best like they do in Paris or London.
On the other, (yes I have three hands, one is just invisible) it always affords the best streetstyle as far as models go.

So I am just feeling really conflicted about it all.

Speaking of conflicts, Madeline and I went to see Warm Bodies.

It was so good.

As I mentioned on twitter a zillion (get it? zombie, zillion? babahahah) times,
Nicholas Hoult is my favorite Brit boy.

Sorry 1D, I know the disappointment is sharp.

(Sharp? like my last name? oh gosh I can't stop hahahah)
 I obviously need sleep.

or I'll turn into zombie too.

But with better hair.

Justina

A Justina In The Wild

|sweater: c.o. miss magiba boutique|pants: c.o society of chic| whistle: c.o . stella & bow|

I got a very interesting email the other day from a reader.
In the nicest way possible, she was basically questioning my naturality.
Not a word, but a good point.

There are loads of bloggers who dress just for their blogs.
Heels and dresses for the camera, jeans and sweatshirts for real life.
I am not one of those.
I'm lucky enough that I don't have to be, I can quite literally wear whatever I want.
What you see is what you get babe.

In keeping with this theme, I felt like it might be fun to show you guys me in my most natural environment: my room.
I do, however, look unnaturally composed and put together.
I promise, this is a one in 10,000,000,000,000 moment.
Over the years, it has become my own little world, where I decide what comes in an out. It's a very clear representation of me, and I lurrrve it.

Things I lurve also:

My new sweater. It's very hobo-chic, and it's sparkly, and it's pink, and its... you get the idea.
mega fab.
(Check out the shop it came from as well, Wildfox is in particularly high population there.)

My favorite pants. Unfortunately, SOC doesn't sell them anymore, but gosh do I wear mine a lot.

My new Stella & Bow jewelry. I'm in LOVE with this small brand, and everything they are.
I'll be doing a detail post on them super soon.

In other news, I took that test.

Nailed it.

 Still in Fat Amy mode.

It's a fun place to be.

Justina

I really don't like taking tests.

I mean, I'm homeschooled, so it only happens like three times a year, but still.

As you are reading this, I am taking the CAHSEE, a test designed to see if I'm smart enough to graduate highschool. If I don't pass, I get to take it four more times. Smarts.

I'm also wearing this outfit.
I  think it combines enough of my favorite things to have just enough luck for me to pull off maths.
Maybe.

Let's see:
Macintosh: 3 lucks for colour, shape, and actual usefulness (If move somewhere where it rains.)
Shirt with heart cutouts: 2 lucks for hearts and billowy-ness
Jeans: 2 lucks for color, and fabulous fit.
Shoes: 5 lucks just because they're perfect.
Necklace: 1 luck for overall turquoise fabulousness

Total Lucks from outfit: 13.

Hey look, I can count and add.

I'll pass this no problem.

Justina

Matisse is French.

 #teenvogue Dress: c/o red label fashion| shoes: urban outfitters| necklace:c/o hippe hebbedingjetes

Theres a whole story behind the title of this post.
 Literally.
All I'm going to tell you right now is that I'm writing a book, and "Matisse is French." is the title.
That was your "big reveal" of the week.

Moving on.

I LOVE this dress. so, so, so if-I-continue-on-in-this-manner-we'll-be-here-forever much.
It has everything.
Flowy sleeves, swishy bottom, lace, buttons, a cool collar. And the color is spot on gorgeous.

Paired with one of my favorite necklaces, I'm a French bohemian. Snazzy.

All day:

me: *twirling around like a ballerina and saying "Bonjour" a lot*
general public: "oh my GAWSH I love your dress!"

Very fun.

Speaking of fun, tomorrow is the Superbowl.
For those of you who are not American, it's the day we who are American dedicate to a little bit of football watching, and a lot of Beyonce/Doritos commercial watching.

Must find out who is actually playing.

or just cheer for the team with the prettiest colors.

 I think I'll do that.

xx,
Justina

PS.
Check out this months lovely sponsor, ManEater! They sell a little bit of everything, all of it positively dripping California cool. Speaking of cool Californians, you've seen me in their Kristin Lace Dress here and here, because I love it.

Wear Your Heart On My Cheek

 On cheek hearts:

Marina does it, so it's chic.

also, people ask intelligent questions like "Is that a gang tattoo?"
which are always entertaining to answer.

"Yes, unicorn herding associations are getting serious these days."
